Ochs Tabbed Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week; Team Moves Up to No. 13 in Div. II Rankings

WALTHAM, Mass. – After helping Bentley set a new program record for consecutive wins last week, junior Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) was named the Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week on Monday.

Ochs was at her best on Saturday as the now 13th ranked Falcons knocked off New Haven 12-8 for the 10th win in a row. She made 11 saves, with eight coming in the 2nd half. She spearheaded a defensive effort that kept the Chargers off the scoreboard for the first 18-plus minutes of the 2nd half as Bentley built its lead. It's the 7th time this season she has made double-digit saves.

Earlier in the week Ochs made nine saves as the Falcons won at Saint Michael's 10-8.

It's the first career Northeast-10 Goalie of the Week award for Ochs, who at the end of the regular season, is 2nd in the conference in save percentage (.497) and 4th in goals against average (9.00) while leading the league in minutes played.

As a result of the team's 10 game streak and win over then No. 9 New Haven, the Falcons have moved up four spots to 13th in this week's IWLCA Div. II poll, its highest ranking of the season.

Ochs and the Falcons are the No. 3 seed in the Northeast-10 Championship and will host No. 6 seed Stonehill in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
