Bentley Prevails for 9th Straight Time in Win at St. Michael’s

COLCESTER, Vt. – Bentley tied a program record with its nine straight win on Wednesday, but it wasn't easy as they won at St. Michael's 10-8 in a Northeast-10 matchup in a game that went down to the finish.

The 9th straight win for the 17th ranked Falcons tied a school record that was set in 2000, only the program's second full season.

Four of Bentley's wins during the streak have been by two goals or less, including this one. After a 2-0 run by the Purple Knights got them to within 8-7 with 11:06 remaining in the game, junior Ciara Morley's (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) third goal of the afternoon bumped Bentley's lead back to two goals.

Six minutes later Saint Michael's again shaved the lead down to a single goal after attacker Kealy Moyna found the back of the net at the 4:06 mark.

After Saint Michael's won the ensuing draw control for possession, the shot they took was saved by goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequiot), one of her nine on the day, with 2:48 left. Saint Michael's would get the ball back after a Bentley turnover, but they turned it right back over on the clear attempt, which saw Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) secure the ground ball and score seconds later for a 10-8 Bentley lead with 1:52 to play.

Midfielder Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) won the following draw control and Bentley was able to run out the clock.

In the first half, Morley and Carolyn Cruise (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich) led the Bentley offense with two goals each as they led 6-4 at halftime.

With the win Bentley's records go to 11-5 overall and 9-3 Northeast-10, and they have clinched no worse than the No. 4 seed in the NE-10 playoffs. They will close out the regular season on Saturday at home against New Haven.
