Bentley Balanced in Attack in 11-7 Win over So. New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Four different Falcons had at least two goals as the women's lacrosse team bested Northeast-10 rival Southern New Hampshire 11-7 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kathleen Gillespie (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet) led the way with a hat trick.

Bentley improves to 2-1 in NE-10 play while dealing the Penmen a defeat in their conference opener. The Falcons are now 3-2 overall.

After SNHU closed to within 8-6 of Bentley at the 10:10 mark of the second half after consecutive goals, Bentley closed strong by outscoring their opponents 3-1 over the final 9:13.

Junior Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), who was one the four players to score at least two goals, scored on a free-position shot at the 9:13 mark to make 9-6. Southern's Emily King then scored an unassisted goal to make it a two-goal game again with 7:23 remaining.

But Bentley scored the game's final two goals. Sophomore Hannah Lindgren (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin) found the back of  the net unassisted at the 5:40 mark to give the Falcons a 10-7 advantage, and Gillespie netted a man-up goal with 57 seconds left to finish the scoring.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) came up big with 17 saves against 24 shots faced for a career-high.

Bentley is back in action next Saturday when they visit Pace.
