Brown Leads Bentley Past AIC 17-9 in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior attack Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) scored five goals to lead the Bentley University women's lacrosse team to a 17-9 victory over AIC in the season opener for the Falcons.

Bentley led from start to finish, as Brown opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game and Bentley did not look back. She scored three of her goals in the first half, and two more in the second.

A 4-0 Falcons run in the first half took a 4-4 game and gave the visitors an 8-4 advantage at 6:50 mark after a goal by sophomore Taylor Lunden (Agawam, Mass./Agawam). AIC though closed out the half with two of the final three goals to get to within 9-6 at halftime.

AIC's Cheyenne Carden scored the opening goal of the second half to get the Yellow Jackets to within 9-7, but that is as close as they would get the rest of the game. Bentley proceeded to rip off a 5-0 run, featuring man-up goals from Brown and junior Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough). After the run was finished Bentley led 14-7 with 15:06 remaining.

Bentley closed out the game with Brown's fifth goal of the afternoon, and two goals from junior Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport).

Sophomore goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made nine saves to earn the win.

Now 1-0 on the season, Bentley will play its home-opener on Sunday against Dowling at 1:00 pm.
