Big Second Half Pushes No. 4 Le Moyne Past Bentley 15-6 in Season-Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 4 Le Moyne used a big second half to turn a close game at halftime into a 15-6 victory over the Bentley women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon in the season-opener for both squads.

The Falcons trailed just 5-3 at halftime but Le Moyne powered ahead in the second half, outscoring them 10-3. Junior midfielder Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) led the Bentley offense with a hat trick, with two of the goals in the first half.

The teams traded goals over the first 20 minutes of the first half with Kynoch and sophomore Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) scoring for Bentley, leaving the game tied 2-2. After Le Moyne netted the game's next two goals to take a 4-2 lead with 5:37 remaining in the half, Kynoch struck again at the 2:48 mark to make it 4-3.

The Dolphins though got the final goal of the half from freshman Amari Pollard to lead 5-3 at the break.

Bentley got the opening goal of the second half from senior attack Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) to make it a 5-4 game. However, that was as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the afternoon.

From that point, Le Moyne scored nine straight goals to take a 14-4 lead with just 3:13 remaining. The run was started with a goal from sophomore Kaitlyn Armstrong at the 26:08 mark, and featured two goals each from Claire and Maggie Monnat.

Bentley scored twice in the final 1:12 of the game, with the goals coming from senior Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) and Kynoch.

The Falcons return to the field on March 12 against LIU Post in Orlando, Fla.
