Cerny, Wiggins Help No. 12 Bentley Power Past AIC 16-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Tori Cerny (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) and grad student Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough)led the attack as the No. 12 Bentley University women's lacrosse team got back to its winning ways by beating AIC 16-2 Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 action.

Cerny had a game high five points on one goal and four assists, and Wiggins had three goals and one assist. Junior Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) had a hat trick and senior Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) had two goals and one assist. Senior Cori Geiger (Agawam, Mass./Agawam) chipped in a goal and two assists.

Bentley outscored their hosts 8-1 in each half, and scored nine straight goals from the halfway point of the first half to the 21:00 mark of the second half. They led 3-0 after 12 minutes on goals by Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland), Geiger and Cerny before AIC scored its first of the game from Brittany Flynn with 15:09 remaining.

The Falcons then went on a 5-0 run to close out the half, with Wiggins scoring twice and Kynoch adding her second of the half as part of the run.

Wiggins netted her third goal of the game and team leading 15th of the season at the 22:30 mark of the second half, and Bastien's 14th goal and team best 27th point highlighted the second half.

Bentley snaps a two game losing streak and improves to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in NE-10 play. The Yellow Jackets drop to 1-8 and 0-6. The team's next game is Saturday afternoon at home against Southern Connecticut.
