No. 8 Bentley Beaten by No. 14 New Haven 15-4

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Bentley University women's lacrosse team was held to a season low four goals, as the No. 8 Falcons were beaten by No. 14 New Haven 15-4 Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last season's Northeast-10 quarterfinals.

Bentley got the better of the Chargers twice at home last season, beating them in the regular season 13-11 and 9-8 in the postseason on a last second goal by Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown), but New Haven defended its home field on this day. The Falcons have now lost three straight in West Haven.

The Falcons did not score until more than 17:30 had elapsed in the first half, and by that point were already trailing 5-0. Junior Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) had the goal, one of her two on the day.

Senior attack Natalie Lieberman and junior attack Nicole McKee led the Chargers' offense with five goals and four goals, respectively, and they both scored twice in the opening 5-0 run. Sophomore midfielder Kathryn Campbell had the other goal.

The Chargers scored three more times before halftime, with the goals coming from Lieberman, Campbell and McKee. Bastien found the back of the net for Bentley 1:34 before the break, making the score 8-2 for New Haven at halftime.

Kynoch scored just 47 seconds into the second half to get the Falcons to within 8-3. But that would be their last goal until the final minute of the game as New Haven clamped down defensively and scored seven more times before Bentley did again, extending its lead to 15-3 with 4:21 to play.

Freshman attack Caitlin White (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) scored her first career goal for Bentley with 1:18 remaining in the game to finish the scoring.

Bentley has now dropped two straight after winning four in a row, and its record falls to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10. The Chargers improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10.

The Falcons are back in action Wednesday afternoon at AIC.
