Thompson Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week for 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./ Center Grove HS) has been named the Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for the second time this season. She was previously honored on Dec. 23.

Thompson earned her latest honor Monday for her performance in victories over St. Michael's College and Southern Connecticut State. Those two wins extended the Falcons' winning streak to eight and boosted Bentley to 12-3 overall, including 7-0 in the conference.

Thompson averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting .600 overall and sinking five of eight three-pointers. In a 101-52 win over the Owls, she scored 14 points without missing a shot (4-4 3's, 2-2 FT) and also finished with eight assists and seven rebounds. Her performance at St. Michael's included five points, three rebounds and three helpers.

For the season, Thompson Is producing 8.3 points, 3.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. Those numbers have been climbing, as evidenced by her averages in conference play, 10 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

The NE10 Weekly Honor Roll included senior center Monica Viapiano (Holden/Holy Name HS), who totaled 40 points in 38 minutes while making 15 of 20 shots from the floor.

Bentley, ranked 19th in last week's D2SIDA media poll, has two difficult road games this week, at New Haven Tuesday afternoon and at Pace on Saturday.
