ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Runs of 11-0 around halftime, 13-0 to end the third quarter and 12-2 to end the game propelled Molloy College to a 64-52 victory over Bentley University at Quealy Gymnasium in non-conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon.

While the stingy Lion defense (ranked eighth in Division II) was limiting Bentley to 19 points over the final 25 minutes, the Falcons had no answer for graduate guard Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.),who finished with 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting, 12 rebounds and two steals in a 40-minute performance.

Senior center Monica Viapiano (Holden, Mass./Holy Name HS) led Bentley with 20 points, including 12 in the game's first 15 minutes to spark the Falcons to a 12-point lead, 33-21.

Three-pointers played a major role in Bentley building that lead as the Falcons sank seven of 12 to open the game. Viapiano connected twice, as did senior forward Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) and junior guard Katie Meriggioli (Waunakee, Wisc./Edgewood HS).

The rest of the game saw the Falcons misfire on 17 of 18 from downtown and shoot only 9 of 39 overall. The dry spell began with Bentley scoreless on their final eight possessions of the second, allowing the Lions to cut the deficit in half, 33-27.

Bentley was limited to six third quarter points and after Dickson opened the fourth with an elbow jumper, was looking at a 52-39 deficit. The Falcons came alive with 11 straight points to draw within two with 6:32 to play but managed only two more points the rest of the afternoon.

That Falcon run included eight points from Viapiano and a three-pointer from senior guard Maddy Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant HS).

Molloy, 5-2, also received 13 points from junior guard Gabriella Aspuru (Farmingville, N.Y.) and 11, along with eight assists and seven rebounds, from junior guard Giolbeth Perez (Camuy, P.R.).

Viapiano made 8 of 16 shots overall and also provided six rebounds, a steal, a block and an assist. She was followed in the scoring column by Meriggioli, with ten points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Bentley also received nine points, three assists and three rebounds from sophomore guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc./Appleton North HS).

Molloy outshot Bentley 48-35 percent, dominated in the paint (28-16) and had a 37-31 rebound advantage.

Bentley will remain in New York for a 1:00 Sunday game in Sparkill at 7-0 St. Thomas Aquinas.
