WALTHAM, Mass. – After home court wins over Queens (N.Y.) and Stonehill, the Bentley University women's basketball will be back on the road this weekend as they begin their second stretch this season of four straight away games.

The first two will be played in New York this weekend with coach Barbara Stevens' team playing on Long Island at Molloy College Saturday at noon and at St. Thomas Aquinas College Sunday at 1 pm. It won't be an easy task as Molloy is one of the stingiest teams in Division II, giving up only 50 a game, and St. Thomas Aquinas is off to a 7-0 start while scoring nearly 85 a game.

Bentley and Molloy are both off to 4-2 starts and share two common opponents. Each has a double-digit win over Stonehill, the Falcons' coming by a score of 69-53 on Tuesday, and each has lost to USciences.

The Falcons, who have won four out of five, spread the offense around in the two home wins with five players scoring in doubles in each contest. Doing so in both games were senior center Monica Viapiano (Holden/Holy Name HS) with 19 and 13, sophomore guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc./Appleton North HS) with 10 and 13, and freshman guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) with 17 and 10.

Viapiano leads Bentley in a number of categories, including scoring (13.5), rebounds (6.7), field goal percentage (.583), blocked shots (6) and steals (.583). Also scoring in doubles are Brekke, at 12.2, and junior guard Katie Meriggioli (Waunakee, Wisc./Edgewood HS), at 10.0. Brekke, a former America East Rookie of the Year, has drained ten threes and made 11 steals. Meriggioli scored 23 recently against Queens and has made five of her last seven three-pointers.

Thompson has given the Falcons solid play while starting the last two. She's totaled 27 points, seven assists and five rebounds while making five of nine from deep.

Molloy, which will be looking to posts its third win of the early season against a Northeast-10 team, is coming of a 57-39 win over Concordia (N.Y.) in which they limited the Clippers to 18 percent shooting overall and 2 of 20 on three-pointers.

The Lions, who average 51.3 points on 35 percent shooting, are led by Clarion and Bridgeport transfer Kadijah Dickson, who had a 24-point effort in a 67-51 win over Assumption Nov. 17.  The 5-foot-8 graduate student, who has nearly 1,200 career points, is averaging 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds.

St. Thomas Aquinas has won its first seven by an average of 23 points, with an 85-78 win over Pace its only contest decided by less than 15. The Spartans are shooting 49 percent from the field and come up with nearly 13 steals a game.

STAC has four double-figure scorers with both junior guard Zaria Thomas and six-foot senior Melissa Sadler scoring over 15 a game. Thomas has 22 steals already this season and has buried 24 three-pointers with a .421 success rate from deep.

After the two games in New York, Bentley will play conference road games at Assumption and Franklin Pierce before the next home appearance, Dec. 15 against Holy Family.
