America East Rookie of the Year Transfers to Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University women's basketball coach Barbara Stevens has bolstered her roster for the coming season with the addition of sophomore guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc./ Appleton North HS), the 2018-19 America East Rookie of the Year while playing for the University of New Hampshire.

Brekke was the only player who started every game for the Wildcats last season. She led all America East freshmen in scoring and finished the year with averages of 10.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals. Her 51 three-pointers was the ninth highest total in the conference.

Brekke scored a career-high 20 points Jan. 26 against Maryland-Baltimore County and knocked down multiple three-pointers 15 times in 30 games.

While in high school, Brekke helped her team to consecutive Division I state championships her junior and senior years, and ranked first in her class academically.

Bentley, 28-4 each of the last two seasons, will open the season Nov. 8-9 with two games in the NE10/CACC Challenge at the University of the Sciences.
