White Inducted into A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame

C White, the associate head coach for the Bentley University women's basketball team, was recently inducted into the charter class of the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame, which is presented by Worth Advisors. The ceremony was held in Atlanta earlier this month.

In addition to White, the Class of 2019 included Donny Daniels (Gonzaga), Chris Dailey (UConn), Mickie DeMoss (Retired), Stan Jones (Florida State), Carol Owens (Notre Dame), Steve Robinson (North Carolina), Dwayne Stephens (Michigan State) and Amy Tucker (Stanford) from Division I; Dan Shardo (Findlay) frpm Division II, and Division III inductees Arthur Howell (Emmanuel College) and Tom Jessee (Augustana College).

Selection criteria included respect among colleagues for high moral character and integrity, and have made significant contributions to the game and/or teams they coached. The honoree must be an active or retired college basketball assistant coach who has been a part of winning championship-caliber programs.

White, a member of Barbara Stevens' staff at Bentley for all but one year since finishing her playing career with the Falcons since 2001, is certainly deserving of being the first Division II women's assistant in the Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame.

"C's selection to the inaugural class of the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame is a such a tribute to her and a fitting recognition of her work over the 17 years she has spent on our coaching staff," said Stevens, the fourth winningest coach in NCAA women's basketball histor, when her selection was announced in March.

Bentley's resume since White became part of the coaching staff, as a grad assistant in 2001-02 and as Stevens' top side since 2003-04, has been impressive with the list of highlights topped by an undefeated Division II national championship in 2014.

That was one of four Elite Eight appearances during her tenure, and the list of achievements has also included 14 NCAA tournament berths, seven Northeast-10 regular season titles, the same number of Northeast-10 championships and a sparkling record of 419-127. That includes an amazing 246-47 over the last nine seasons.

White, a Westwood native who now lives in Wellesley, helped Bentley to a 120-12 record as a point guard for the Falcons from 1997-2001.
