WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore forward Marissa Fontaine (Franklin/Bishop Feehan HS), making her first career start, buried five three-pointers and amassed 17 points, five rebounds and a career-high seven assists as Bentley University stayed unbeaten with an 84-51 non-conference win over Molloy College in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Bentley, number five in the WBCA Division II coaches' poll and second in the D2SIDA media poll, improved to 12-0 with the start-to-finish victory. Molloy dropped to 5-5 after coming up short in its fourth straight game.

Coach Barbara Stevens' team wasted no time establishing control, scoring 20 of the game's first 22 points.

An opening 13-0 run included a pair of three-pointers by Fontaine and five points from senior guard Amy McConnell (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS), another of the five Falcons who scored in doubles.

After the Lions finally got on the scoreboard nearly halfway through the opening stanza, Bentley continued to build on its lead with another Fontaine three, a lay-up from freshman guard Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton, Maine/Houlton HS) and a fast-break finished by junior forward Monica Viapiano (Holden/Wachusett Reg. HS).

A three from junior guard Maddy Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant HS), the Falcons' sixth of the opening ten minutes, made it a commanding 30-8 lead after the opening quarter.

The Falcons led by as many as 30 in the second quarter, 35 in the third and 41 in the fourth. The biggest lead of the afternoon came with five minutes left in the fourth when a McConnell jumper made it 82-41.

Fontaine, a plus-36 for the game, achieved her five three-pointers in nine attempts and was 6 of 12 overall from the floor.

McConnell, a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor with a pair of treys, followed with 12 points and four assists. Bouchard, five of six overall, scored 11 off the bench and both Viapiano and senior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) scored ten.

Lux also had nine rebounds in only 12 minutes of action, a total that boosted her past Claire Holston, Becky Davison and Janet Kerrigan into ninth on the program's all-time list with 798.

Senior guard Ihnacinse Grady (Amityville, N.Y.) led Molloy with 15 points and three steals. However, she was responsible for nine of her team's 17 turnovers.

Bentley shot 51 percent overall, made 10 of 24 three-pointers and dominated the boards, 43-25. The Falcons had a significant advantage in points off turnovers (23-14), points in the paint (44-28), second chance points (19-4) and bench scoring (31-16).

The next game for the Falcons is 12 days away, Dec. 28 against undefeated and nationally-ranked USciences in the third of a five-game homestand.
