Northeast-10 Champion Falcons Receive Record 34th NCAA Tournament Invite, Will Face Jefferson Friday

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the 34th time in the program's storied history, the Bentley University women's basketball team will be competing in the NCAA Division II Championships.             

After capturing the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference championship with a thrilling 73-72 win over Stonehill College, coach Barbara Stevens' Falcons were seeded second and will face number seven Jefferson University on Friday.

The 2018 NCAA Division II East Regional will be held at Stonehill College after the Skyhawks received the number one seed.

Automatic berths went to Bentley (Northeast-10 Conference), USciences (Central Atlantic) and St. Thomas Aquinas (East Coast). At-large bids went to Stonehill, Jefferson, LIU Post, Caldwell College and Southern Connecticut State. Combined, the eight teams have a spectacular 200-36 record.

The other three quarterfinal match-ups on Friday will have number one seed Stonehill facing eighth-seeded Southern Connecticut, third-seeded USciences meeting up with number six LIU Post, and St. Thomas Aquinas meeting Caldwell in the 4-5 game.

Bentley, USciences and Caldwell are the only East Region programs who also earned bids a year ago.

The regional semifinals will be Saturday evening and the regional championship game will follow on Monday, March. 12.

The Elite Eight will be held in Sioux Falls, S.D. Mar. 19-23.

#3 USciences (28-3) vs. #6 LIU Post (22-7)
#2 Bentley (27-3) vs. #7 Jefferson (26-5)
#1 Stonehill (26-3) vs. #8 Southern Connecticut St. (21-5)
#4 St. Thomas Aquinas (26-4) vs. #5 Caldwell (24-6)

Semifinals – Saturday, March 10
Bentley-Jefferson winner vs. USciences-LIU Post winner
Stonehill-Southern Connecticut winner vs. STAC-Caldwell winner

Championship – Monday, March 12
Winner advances to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the Elite Eight, Mar. 19-23.
