4 Bentley Women’s Basketball Players Receive All-Northeast-10 Recognition
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons, ranked 12th in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II national coaches poll with a 25-3 record, were well represented on the All-Northeast-10 Conference team with four players receiving recognition. The team was announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Junior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) topped the list of Bentley honorees as she was voted to the All-Conference first team by the NE10 coaches.
Graduate guard Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS) was chosen for the second team, senior guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) received third-team honors and senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) was among the honorable mention selections.
Lux will enter Thursday's Northeast-10 semifinals with team-best averages of 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and one block. She's the number one offensive rebounder in the conference with 99 and has 14 double-doubles, with Bentley undefeated in those contests.
Lux has more than doubled year's scoring average (6.5) while playing only 3.7 minutes more than she did a year ago.
Musgrove, a Brown transfer who is just 16 points away from 1,000 as a collegian, follows Lux with a 12.2 scoring average and is also averaging 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.2 assists. She's scored in doubles in nine of the Falcons' last ten games and has made 54 percent of her two-point attempts since the first of January.
Green is making her third appearance on the All-Northeast-10 team, having received second team honors as a junior and third team recognition as a sophomore. Third in program history in career threes (240) and tied for fourth in games started (121), she averages 10.3 points and is third in the NE10 in three-point accuracy (.400).
Smith, a third-team selection last winter, is third nationally in assist-turnover ratio at 3-1, committing only one turn every 22.3 minutes as the team's principal ball handler. Second on the team in defensive rebounds, she fills the stat sheet in a number of categories, averaging 7.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals.
Bentley will be looking to reach the Northeast-10 championship game for the 27th time when it visits Southwest Division champion Southern Connecticut State Thursday night (7 pm).
