ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Senior guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) drained five three-pointers, including three in the opening five-plus minutes, and sophomore forward Monica Viapiano (Holden, Mass./Holy Name HS) came off the bench to score 16 points without missing a shot as Bentley University registered a 66-42 win over Molloy College in non-conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium.

Bentley, ranked seventh nationally in Division II, returned from a 12-day holiday break to improve to 12-1 and give coach Barbara Stevens her 995th career win. It marked the fourth time this season that the Falcons have kept their opponent in the 40's.

After the Lions (6-6) scored the game's first basket, Green fueled a 14-4 run that made it a 14-6 game with 3:49 left in the opening stanza. She connected three times from the left side of the court, netting the first nine of her game-high 17 points.

Later in the first quarter, Viapiano and junior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) each scored four as Bentley ran off ten unanswered to make it a 24-8 contest.

Bentley kept the Lions off the scoreboard during the first five minutes of the second quarter with a Viapiano lay-up and another Green three from the left side making it a 29-10 game.

The Falcons took a 38-18 lead into the halftime break, and despite third-quarter offensive woes (2 for 15), were never seriously threatened in the second half. Molloy got to within 14 late in the third but the visitors closed the game by outscoring the home team 20-12 in the fourth. The differential hit a game-high 24 for the first time on a fast-break lay-up from freshman guard Katie Meriggioli (Waunakee, Wisc./ Edgewood HS) that made it 63-49 with 3:47 left.

Viapiano, in 17 minutes off the bench, made all six of her field goal attempts and was also four-for-four from the line. She also contributed five rebounds and three blocks.

Next on the scoring list for Bentley were junior forward Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) and Lux. Lewis buried two triples during an eight-point afternoon and Lux finished with seven points and the same number of rebounds. Senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) pitched in with three of the Falcons' seven steals.

Freshman Melody Prichard (Knightdale, N.C.) led Molloy with 13 points.

Bentley outscored Molloy 27-6 from three-point land, hitting 9 of 27 as compared to 2 of 16, and also finished with a 15-2 advantage in free throws made. The Falcons outshot the Lions 37-30 percent overall and had 10 more rebounds, 47-37.

Next up for the Falcons is a 5 pm game at Le Moyne College Wednesday, the first of 14 straight against Northeast-10 opponents for Stevens' crew.
