9-1 Bentley on Road for 6 of Next 7, Beginning Tuesday at Merrimack

WALTHAM, Mass. – After a stretch in which five of six games were played at home, the Bentley University women's basketball team will be away from Waltham for six of their next seven, beginning Tuesday night with a 5:30 pm encounter at Merrimack. The link to the webcast will be located at http://merrimackathletics.com/watch/?Live=151&type=Live.

Bentley will head to the Volpe Gymnasium in North Andover sporting records of 9-1 overall and 5-1 Northeast-10. Coach Barbara Stevens' club, ranked number three in Division II last week before dropping a 73-68 decision Southern New Hampshire last Wednesday, bounced back with a 77-52 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday. It was the fifth time this season the Falcons have prevailed by at least 25 points.

Merrimack, which has played only two home games thus far, dropped to 5-4 overall and 3-3 conference with a 65-60 loss at St. Michael's Saturday.

Bentley, which can move into a tie for first in the NE10's Northeast Division with idle Stonehill College with a win, has been hitting three-pointers at a school-record pace. The Falcons are making 9.4 per game with four different players averaging at least one. In Saturday's contest, they buried ten with six players connecting from long distance, including senior guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) drilling four to push her career total to 204. She needs two to pass Lauren Moore '07 for third on the program's all-time list.

Green's .408 accuracy mark ranks fourth in the NE10 and freshman forward Marissa Fontaine (Franklin/Bishop Feehan HS) is second in the conference at .442 (19/43). The two are also in the top seven in terms of makes.

Junior forward Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) is one of only two of the 14 players who have seen action for the Falcons this season who doesn't have a three-pointer, but she leads the team in scoring (14.3), rebounding (10.4) and blocks. Against Saint Anselm, she put up her fifth double-double, second most in the NE10.

Other stat leaders for the Falcons are senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School), with 35 assists and 22 steals, and graduate guard Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS), with 24.9 minutes a game. She is second on the team in scoring at 11.2 and Green is right behind at 11.0.

Merrimack features multi-time NE10 Rookie of the Year Alyssa Casey and junior guard Lindsay Werner, both of whom are scoring over 18 a game. They are both in the top five in the NE10 in scoring and Werner's 30 three-pointers is a conference best.

Both teams are among the conference leaders in defense. Bentley is in the top three in scoring defense, opponents' field goal percentage and opponents' three-point accuracy, as well as first in rebound margin. Merrimack is fourth in points allowed and lowest opponents' field goal accuracy, but in contrast to the Falcons, is last in rebound margin.

This week's schedule also includes a Sunday non-conference game at LIU Post.
