WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University closed with a 20-4 run over the final seven minutes to stun previously-unbeaten and third-ranked Bentley University, 73-68, in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball Wednesday evening at the Dana Center.

Bentley, which had won 15 straight home games, dropped to 8-1 overall and to 4-1 in the NE10, falling into third, a half-game behind Southern New Hampshire and Stonehill, in the Northeast Division. SNHU, 5-1 conference, improved to 6-3 overall after winning for the sixth time in seven games.

Junior forward Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston) came up big for the Penmen, hitting 9-of-13 from the floor en route to a 27-point, 13-rebound double-double. SNHU also received a double-double from junior guard Brianna Camara (Fall River), 13 points and 10 boards.

Bentley's double-figure scorers were junior center Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/ Thornton Academy) and grad student Becca Musgrove (Plainview, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS), with 14 and 11, respectively.

The Falcons owned an 11-point lead, 64-53, with 7:25 left in the fourth after freshman forward Marissa Fontaine (Franklin/ Bishop Feehan HS) became the eighth Bentley player to connect from long distance.

It was a nightmarish fourth quarter for Bentley, which managed only seven points on 3-of-17 shooting (.176). The Falcons were whistled for nine fouls in the stanza with SNHU getting to the line 14 times, making 12. Lorenzen scored nine of her points in the fourth, including 7-of-8 from the foul line.

After a number of early lead changes, Bentley ran off ten straight late in the opening quarter and wound up taking a 27-19 lead into the break. Four different players scored, including Lux with three points and sophomore guard Maddy Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H./Conant HS) with a three-ball.

Bentley took a 41-34 into the second half and maintained a lead that ranged from seven to 12 in the third before getting outscored 22-7 in the fourth.

Lux made five of seven shots overall and also led Bentley with eight rebounds. Musgrove complemented her 11 points with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal, and senior guard Macchi Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) helped out with nine points, four assists and two steals.

Bentley shot .579 overall in the opening quarter but connected on only 14 of 49 the rest of the way. The Falcons were also outrebounded 42-40 and outscored 15-5 on points off turnovers.

Bentley will look to get back on track Saturday when the Falcons host Saint Anselm in the final home game of 2017.
