WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior All-Conference forward Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy) led four double-figure scorers with her ninth double-double, a 22-point, 12-rebound effort, as Bentley University posted its fifth wire-to-wire win of the season, 80-69 over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Bentley, with its fifth straight win, improved to 11-2 overall and 5-2 in the NE-10 while Stonehill, the defending Northeast Division champion, dropped to 8-5 overall (3-4 NE-10).

Gemma was joined in doubles by sophomore guards Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS) and Kristin Brown (Poulsbo, Wash./North Kitsap HS), along with freshman wing Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England). Green scored 17. Brown came off the bench for a career-high 11 and Lewis stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, a career-high seven steals, five assists and four rebounds.

The game was four minutes old by the time Stonehill removed the zero from its side of the scoreboard. By that time, Gemma had scored five of the Falcons' seven points and assisted on the other bucket. The first-quarter lead peaked at 13-4 and stood at 16-10 following the first 10 minutes after Gemma hit a 15-footer with 15 seconds left.

The second quarter included a 7-0 Bentley run (5 of those by Green) that restored the lead to 11, 32-21, and a Gemma lay-up just before the buzzer than made it a 39-27 game at the break.

Points were plentiful in the third as the two clubs combined for 48 points, including 25 by the visiting Skyhawks. After seeing their lead fall from a game-high 17 to six, the Falcons scored the final four , including a buzzer-beating three by senior guard Jane White (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS) that followed one of Lewis' steals. White's triple, her only points of the game, sent her team into the fourth up 10, 62-52.

The Bentley momentum carried into the final period with the Falcons scoring the first six points on lay-ups by Gemma, Green and Brown. That made it a 10-0 run, going back to the third, and restored the Bentley advantage to 16, 68-52. The differential remained in double figures the rest of the way.

Gemma, the NE-10 scoring leader, made half of her 16 shots, including a three-pointer, and also contributed three blocks, two steals and two assists. Green, 7 of 17 overall with a couple threes, scored seven of her 17 in the fourth. Lewis was very efficient, hitting six of nine overall and three of five from deep. Brown hit all three of her shots from the floor and was five-of-eight from the line with two steals in her 16 minutes.

Senior forward Shannon Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) led Stonehill with 18 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Samantha Hyslip (Westford) followed with 17 and 7, and junior guard Kelly Martin (Scituate) scored 15 for the visitors.

Bentley outshot Stonehill 49-42 percent overall and enjoyed a 7-2 advantage from beyond the three-point line. The Skyhawks claimed two more rebounds, 37-35, but were forced into 25 turnovers (eight more than the Falcons), which led for 23 points off for the victors.

Bentley will play its next seven against Southwest Division teams, beginning next Saturday at New Haven.
