Longtime Bentley University women’s volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman, five former All-Americas and one of the premier defensemen in the formative days of the university’s Division I hockey program have been selected for the Bentley University Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held in the Lacava Center Executive Dining Room on September 26.

Also recognized by the conference, as a member of the All-Rookie Team, was freshman guard Lauren Green (Damascus, Md./Damascus HS).

Forwards Jessica Hurd (Kegworth, England) and Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) each put up double-doubles and combined to make 16 of 21 shots as Franklin Pierce University pulled away for a 79-50 victory over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball Tuesday night at the FPU Field House.

Senior center Tori Faieta (Lynn) powered her way to 25 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, and sophomore guard Kelly Martin (Scituate) added 20 points, as Stonehill College, ranked 10th in the USA Today Sports/WBCA Division II coaches poll, held off a late charge from Bentley University to record an 85-71 win over the Falcons in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball at Merkert Gym Saturday evening. It was the 100th meeting in a series that dates back 41 seasons.

Sophomore forward Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy) tied her career-high with her third 31-point game of the year and also provided 13 rebounds, three steals and a couple key defensive plays in the final couple minutes as Bentley University won for the third time in four games, 59-54 over Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball Tuesday evening at Hammel Court.
