During a live TV broadcast from USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles that aired on CBS Sports Network Monday evening, Bentley University women’s basketball great Lauren Battista (North Easton/ Oliver Ames HS) was presented with the Honda Division II Athlete of the Year award by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards.

Eleven weeks after leading her team to a perfect season and the NCAA Division II national championship, former Bentley University women’s basketball standout Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS) has been named the 2014 Honda Division II Athlete of the Year by THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda. CWSA Executive Director Chris Voelz made the announcement Friday afternoon.

Three-time All-America Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS), who led the women’s basketball team to the NCAA Division II national championship, and Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms), the top scorer in Atlantic Hockey history, have been named the Outstanding Senior Athletes at Bentley University. Battista, who graduated last weekend with a sparkling 3.96 GPA, was also the recipient of the Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award as Bentley’s premier senior scholar-athlete.

Former Bentley University women’s basketball standout Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS) has been named one of three finalists for the Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year Award. The recipient will be announced Monday night, June 2, when the conference holds its year-end banquet in Burlington, Vt.

The Super Boston duck boats will be at Bentley on Saturday afternoon to salute the NCAA Division II national championship Bentley women's basketball team. The rolling rally is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm and there will be a celebration on the Green Space at 3 pm.

– For the third consecutive year, Bentley University senior All-America and Capital One Academic All-America Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS) has been selected as the recipient of the Northeast-10 Conference Scholar-Athlete Award for women’s basketball. Battista was also chosen for the Academic All-Northeast-10 team for the third straight year, as was classmate Jacqui Brugliera (Fitchburg/Wachusett Reg. HS).

The Bentley University Falcons capped a perfect season by storming back in the final three minutes, closing with a press-fueled 19-5 run to overtake fifth-ranked West Texas A&M University, 73-65, Friday night before 2,151 at the Erie Insurance Arena.
