Six Bentley Softball Players Receive All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six members of the 2019 Bentley University softball team received Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

They are seniors Jillian Parinello (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) and Sami Palazzolo (East Williston, N.Y./Wheatley School), junior Lea Thompson (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) and sophomores Elise Pereira (Plainville/King Philip Reg. HS) and Ella Hillier (Tualitin, Ore./Tualitin HS). Also honored was Rachel Rogers (Windham, N.H./Windham HS), a junior on last year's squad.

All were recognized for achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2018-19 academic year.

Pereira, an actuarial sciences major, and Hillier, who has yet to choose a major, both had impressive freshman seasons. Hillier, a third-team All-Northeast-10 honoree, batted .293 and slugged .421 with a dozen doubles and 28 RBI.  Pereira finished with a 5-9 record and a 2.80 ERA in 15 appearances.

Palazzolo, a creative industries major, generally started in left and had 13 hits and seven RBI. Rogers and Parinello, both marketing majors, saw action in 14 and 13 games, respectively. Thompson, a management major, was sidelined by injury after two-home run, 18-RBI season as a freshman in 2018.
