3 Bentley Softball Players Receive All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors from the NFCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three members of the 2018 Bentley University softball team, including recent graduate Jordan Ballantyne (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington HS), have received Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Also recognized for achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 were current junior Rachel Rogers (Windham, N.H./Windham HS) and current sophomore Lea Thompson (Trumbull, Conn./ Trumbull HS).

Ballantyne was honored for the fourth straight year and Rogers was a repeat honoree. Thompson was recognized for the first time.

Ballantyne, a Magna Cum Laude graduate who majored in information systems, audit and control, started 30 of the 34 games she appeared in and finished with a .261 average and 10 RBI.

Thompson started 37 games as a freshman and batted .248 with ten doubles, two homers and a team-best 18 RBI. Her .381 on base percentage was tied for the team-lead. She is majoring in accounting.

Rogers, a marketing major, appeared in seven games with three starts and had two hits in nine at bats.
