WALTHAM, Mass. – Le Moyne College senior right-hander Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y.) pitched 10.1 scoreless innings and was the winning pitcher in both ends of the doubleheader as the Dolphins swept Bentley University, 5-0 and 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference softball at Bentley Saturday afternoon. The second game lasted eight innings.

Eastman, now 12-3 with 114 strikeouts on the season, authored a two-hit shutout in the opener. She struck out seven, walked only two and allowed just one Bentley base runner to reach third base.

After three scoreless innings, Le Moyne gave her the only run she would need in the fourth. Graduate center fielder Kelsey Johnson (Greece, N.Y.) led off with a single, stole second, was sacrificed to third and scored on a single to center by junior right fielder Lauren Zazzaro (Southington, Conn.).

The Dolphins (19-7, 5-2 NE10) opened the game up with four runs in the fifth with the big blow being a two-run double to left by Zazzaro.

Both of Bentley hits were from senior first baseman Jordan Ballantyne (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington HS).

Eastman, who pitched 3.1 innings of relief in the nightcap, led off the eighth with a single to right center. Freshman pinch-runner Johnna Karas (Camillus, N.Y.) replaced her on the bases and moved to third after a pair of walks. She scored what proved to be the winning run when sophomore second baseman Jillian McManus (Kingston, N.Y.) lined a single to left center.

Zazzaro reached on a fielder's choice and gave Le Moyne a 1-0 lead on an Eastman single to left in the top of the first.

Bentley drew even with an unearned run in the third. Freshman Montana Joyce (Marblehead/ Marblehead HS) reached on an error, advanced on a ground out and scored on a single to center by sophomore shortstop Julie Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS).

Both teams received quality relief pitching. While Eastman struck out six and didn't allow a hit in her 3.1 innings for Le Moyne, Bentley freshman Lauren Calabrese (Cave Creek, Ariz./Boulder Creek HS) gave up only three hits and one run in her 4.2 innings of action. She also pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in the first game.

Bentley (8-17, 5-7 NE10) will look to get back on track Sunday when the Falcons host Saint Rose in a noon doubleheader.
