NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior Megan Cook (Bellingham) saved the nightcap after pitching a two-hit shutout and driving in two runs in the opener as Merrimack College swept a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader from Bentley University, 8-0 and 7-3, Tuesday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.

Sophomore outfielder Stacey Korotsky (Raynham/Bridgewater-Raynham HS) led Bentley in the two games with two hits in each, giving her a total of nine in her last seven games.

Bentley freshman right fielder Lea Thompson (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) accounted for all of her team's runs when she hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth of game two. It was her second round tripper of the season and gave her a team-high 10 RBI.

Merrimack, officially the road team as the location was moved due to field conditions at Bentley, seized control of the opener with five runs in the top of the first, the last two scoring on a home run by freshman left fielder Abigail Amato (Auburn, N.H.).

Cook, who improved to 8-1 on the season, had an RBI double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning in addition to authoring the shutout. She struck out four and didn't issue a walk. In the nightcap, she came on one batter after Thompson's homer and retired all four Falcons she faced.

Junior center fielder Nicole Nahof (Goffstown, N.H.) led the Warrior offense in game two with four RBI. She had a two-run homer in the third and gave her team some insurance with a two-run single to right in the sixth.

The Warriors (15-4, 2-1 NE10 Northeast) totaled 15 hits in the second game, including three by Amato who completed a five-for-seven afternoon.

Bentley (4-14, 1-2 NE10 Northeast) is scheduled to open its home schedule with a doubleheader Friday against Franklin Pierce University (3 pm).
