NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sophomore right fielder Stacey Korotsky (Raynham/Bridgewater-Raynham HS), who had two hits earlier in the game, drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and propel Bentley University to a 4-2 Northeast-10 Conference win over Merrimack College, the 24th-ranked team in Division II, in college softball action Tuesday afternoon on the inaugural game on Merrimack's new field.

Bentley senior first baseman Jordan Ballantyne (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington HS) led off the seventh with an infield single to second. After a sacrifice, she moved to third on a bunt single by freshman catcher Lindsey Allen (Worcester/Worcester Technical HS). Following a pitching change, back-to-back walks to sophomore center fielder Juliana Romeo (Greenville, R.I./Smithfield HS) and Korotsky forced in Ballantyne with the go-ahead run.

Allen came home with an insurance run when sophomore shortstop Julie Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) grounded into a fielder's choice.

Freshman pitcher Lauren Calabrese (Cave Creek, Ariz./Boulder Creek HS), who took over in the sixth, earned her first career win by retiring all six Warriors she faced, including a ground out and two foul-outs in the seventh.

Merrimack (12-3, 0-1 NE10) claimed a 2-0 lead in the third on a bases-loaded walk drawn by senior first baseman Alyssa Williamson (Scarborough, Maine) and a sacrifice fly hit by junior third baseman Caitlin McBride (Danvers).

It stayed that way until the fifth when the Falcons struck for two. Ballantyne singled through the left side       and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Sophomore Sami Palazzolo (East Williston, N.Y./ Wheatley School) pinch ran and advanced to third on a bunt single by Allen. After Allen stole second, Kotorsky singled to left, driving in Palazzolo. Korotsky got caught in a rundown trying to advance to second, allowing Allen to score the equalizer.

Bentley's eight hits included two apiece by Allen and Ballantyne, as well as Korotsky. Merrimack's six hits included two from both Williamson and senior pitcher Megan Cook (Bellingham), who was charged with the loss. She entered the game with a 6-0 record, a 0.95 ERA and a .474 batting average.

Bentley (3-9, 1-0 NE10) is scheduled to travel to Connecticut this weekend for doubleheaders against Southern Connecticut State Saturday and New Haven Sunday.
