Bentley Falls Twice in Florida, 2-0 & 6-1

CLERMONT, Fla. – LIU Post junior righty Olshevski (Robbinsville, N.J.) pitched a three-hit shutout and a pair of University of Mary pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Bentley University softball team dropped two games Wednesday at the Legends Way Ballfields in non-conference action.

LIU Post took the first game of the day, 2-0, and 8-4 UMary prevailed in the second game, 6-1.

Both runs against LIU Post were scored in the fifth inning. Junior catcher Julia Seader (Piscataway, N.J.) drove in what proved to be the only run that Olshevski would need with a double and she scored the second run on a single by sophomore center fielder Abbey Fortin (Langley, B.C.).

Olshevski walked one and struck out nine in her complete game effort.

Bentley received a solid pitching performance from freshman Ashley Keegan (Pittsfield, Mass/Taconic HS), who gave up seven hits and struck out four.

UMary jumped out to an early lead on a two-run single to center by senior first baseman Colleen Crutchfield (Oregon City, Ore.). Sophomore center fielder Rebekkah Keller (Apple Valley, Calif.) led off with a single, senior third baseman Madison McGonigal (Calgary, Alb.) walked and the two combined for three stolen bases to set the table for Crutchfield.

The Marauders broke it open with three runs in the fifth, an inning that included a two-run double by sophomore left fielder Emma Noble (Murray, Utah).

Sophomore shortstop Julie Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) had two of Bentley's four hits.

Bentley's trip to Florida continues Thursday with games against Bridgeport (2 pm) and Notre Dame of Ohio (4:30 pm).
