Noons, McQuaid Named Bentley Softball Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior infielders Catie Noons (North Dighton/Dighton-Rehoboth Reg. HS) and Stephanie McQuaid (Windham, N.H./Austin Prep HS) have been named captains of the 2018 Bentley University softball team, coach Terry M. Prouty announced.

"I have to say these two young ladies have to be the best captains I have had," said Prouty. "We are on the same page and we have high expectations for this team.

"Catie and Steph are very similar in some ways and very different in other ways.  Catie has been our captain going on two years.  Her leadership, hard work, and no excuses attitude helps bring this team to the next level. Steph leaves it all on the field may it be at practice or games.  She brings a lot of communication on and off the field as well."

Noons, a starter since arriving on campus as a freshman, enters her senior season with a .257 career average and a solid .954 fielding percentage.  Her most productive season at the plate came as a freshman when she batted .333 with her 29 hits including nine doubles, two triples and a home run.

McQuaid, who began her collegiate career at Sacred Heart, hit .219 during her first two Bentley seasons with 15 RBI and 18 runs scored in 61 games and starts. As a sophomore in 2016, she connected at a .263 clip with ten RBI and ten runs scored.

"Together, Catie and Steph make life easier for our coaching staff may it be traveling to Florida or just knowing when it is time to bring the team together and to make sure we as a team are getting the best out of each other," praised Prouty.

"I wish we had another year with them, but I know we will work hard to make this year their best year here at Bentley."

Bentley begins an 11-game spring trip to Clermont, Fla. with a 7 pm against Nyack College.
