WALTHAM, Mass. – Graduate student and Trinity College transfer Hannah King (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk HS) won both ends of the doubleheader as Bentley University swept Pace University, 2-1 and 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference softball Sunday afternoon at Bentley.

King put up  a complete game four-hitter in the opener, finishing with two walks and seven strikeouts. Coach Terry M. Prouty called on her in relief in game two and she delivered with five quality innings in which she allowed three hits and one run while fanning four.

Bentley took the opener with an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh, rallying after two were out. Junior designated player Jordan Ballantyne (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington HS) drew a walk, freshman Sami Palazzolo (East Williston, N.Y./Wheatley School) replaced her on the bases as a pinch-runner and came all the way around when a fly ball hit by junior shortstop Catie Noons (North Dighton/Dighton-Rehoboth HS) was misplayed.

The Falcons, after giving up a run in the top of the first, answered right back. Noons singled, took third on a single by senior left fielder Kelsey Kennedy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) and scored on Bentley's third hit of the opening frame, this one a single by freshman first baseman Stacey Korotsky (Raynham/Bridgewater-Raynham HS).

In game two, Bentley took a 1-0 lead in the third when the Falcons capitalized on a pair of Setter errors. 

It stayed 1-0 until the fifth when the Falcons scored twice. Kennedy had an RBI double to left and freshman designated player Julie Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill HS) followed with an RBI triple to center.

After Pace picked up its only run in the top of the sixth, King closed strong, retiring the final five batters she faced.

Bentley (6-11, 2-4 Northeast-10) totaled nine hits in the two games, including three by Kennedy who boosted her team-leading average to .412.

The Falcons are back in action Tuesday with a 3:00 game at Merrimack College.
