Ferris & Kennedy Selected for All-Northeast-10 Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University softball players Kelly Ferris (Seymour, Conn./Seymour HS) and Kelsey Kennedy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) have been selected for the 2016 All-Northeast-10 Conference third team, the conference announced today. Ferris is a senior pitcher and Kennedy a junior outfielder.

Ferris was a workhorse for the Falcons during her final season, appearing in 28 of the Falcons' 35 games, including 19 starts. The left-hander amassed a 9-12 record with two shutouts and a save, and her 1.89 ERA currently ranks fifth in the conference. It was the third best for a Bentley pitcher with at least 100 innings.

Ferris finished her career ranking second in school history in games pitched (93), strikeouts (248) and ERA (1.95). She's also tied for fourth in wins (21) and is the school record holder for career saves (9).

Kennedy led the Falcons in hitting with her .363 average the best by a Bentley player since Jasmine Ortiz batted a point higher a half-dozen years ago. She also led the team in hits (37), runs (15), doubles (9), on base percentage (.414) and slugging percentage (.500). In addition, Kennedy tracked down 44 balls in left without an error.

Kennedy, whose average has improved each year she's been at Bentley, owns a .295 career average with her slugging percentage (.452) eighth on Bentley's all-time list.

Bentley finished the 2016 season with a 14-21 record, including 12-12 in NE-10 games.
