Murphy Leads Bentley to 10th Place Finish with All-Region Performance

BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Bentley University senior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) earned All-Region honors after finishing 19th overall in the NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country East Regional Saturday afternoon at the Bethpage State Park Polo Field.

Murphy, in his final collegiate cross country race, covered the 10,000-meter course in 33:27.70, his best-ever at that distance.

That performance helped Bentley finish tenth in a field of 29 teams with a score of 302.      

The next three Falcon runners crossed within about three seconds of each other with senior Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) 65th in 35:35.20, junior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./ Morristown HS) 66th in 35:37.00) and junior Tom Abraham (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) 69th in 35:38.40).

Senior Nick Accardi (Seekonk, Mass./Seekonk HS) rounded out Bentley's top five by placing 83rd in 36:11.30.

Stonehill College edged American International for the team title, 52-63, while AIC's Leakey Kipkosgei was the individual champion with a clocking of 31:11.50. Stonehill's Lucas Tanner took second, finishing about four seconds back of Kipkosgei.
