Bentley Places 3 in Top 20 during Northeast-10 Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. – During the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Cross Country Championships, contested Sunday at Stanley Park, Bentley University was one of only three teams to place three runners in the top 20. They were seniors Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./ East Greenwich HS) and Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), along with junior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton , N.H./Goffstown HS).

Chapski gained second-team All-Northeast-10 honors by virtue of finishing 14h overall with an 8,000 meter time of 25:45.34. Higgins and Murphy, 17th and 20th respectively, garnered third-team All-NE10 honors. Higgins finishing in 25:51.49 and Murphy reached the line in 25:55.11.

Their efforts helped Bentley finish fifth among 14 teams with a score of 139. The Falcons trailed number four Adelphi University by only four points and were 22 in front of the number six team, Merrimack College. Stonehill edged defending champion American International by only two points, 44-46, for the team title as the two combined for seven of the top ten individuals.

Bentley's top five also included junior Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) in 40th (26:38.91) and sophomore Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) in 59th (27:17.85).

AIC's Leakey Kipkosgei repeated as individual champion, breaking the tape in 24:38.67, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the number two runner, Tyler McFaren of Southern New Hampshire (24:57.45).

The schedule resumes Nov. 4 with Bentley competing in the NCAA Division II East Regional out in Buffao.
