Chapski Leads Bentley to 9th Place Finish in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Making his season debut, Bentley University senior Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS) was his team's top finisher Saturday morning during the Trevecca Nazarene Division II Showcase at Percy Warner Park.

Bentley totaled 202 points to finish approximately in the middle of the 16-team meet that attracted teams throughout the country. Colorado-Colorado Springs earned team honors with a 42-point margin over Alabama-Huntsville, 63-105.

Chapski ran the 8,000-meter course in 26:56.7 to finish 23rd among 145 student-athletes.  Also cracking the top 50 for the Falcons were junior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) and senior Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS).

Murphy was 32nd overall (27.13.3) and Higgins was 48th in 27:50.7. Just missing the top 50 were junior Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) (51st, 27:54.1) and sophomore Thomas Abraham (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) (55th, 28:02.6).

Silus Kipkoech of UNC-Pembroke cruised to victory, winning by 30 seconds in 25:13.7.

Bentley will be off next weekend with the team's next completion the New England Championships at Fraanklin Park Oct. 7.
