Six Bentley Cross Country Runners Receive Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six members of the Bentley University men's and women's cross country teams, including repeat honorees Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and Sarah Brennan (Quincy/ Notre Dame Academy), received All-Academic honors for the 2014 season from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Also recognized were junior David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS), sophomores Danielle Coskren (North Andover/North Andover HS) and Cullen McHale (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), and freshman Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy).

Brennan, a junior, and Haas, a sophomore, were also voted to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference for cross country.

In addition, both the Bentley men's and women's teams received All-Academic honors for their success in the classroom during the fall 2014 semester. The men achieved the nation's eighth best grade point average, 3.53, and the women recorded a 3.39.

Honorees for the USTFCCCA must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.245 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners in the regional championship.

On the men's side, Haas was 15th of 191, McHale 38th, Cooper 60th and Cadorette 68th. For the women, Brennan was 37th and Coskren 84th in a field of 185.

Haas, who has earned a 3.85 GPA as a finance major, was the Falcons' top runner in all five races he ran this past season. He earned All-East Region honors for his 15th place finish, an improvement over his 2013 performance by 44 places, and was also a third-team All-Northeast-10 honoree.

Brennan, who has achieved a GPA over 3.5 while majoring in both corporate finance and accounting and liberal studies, earned second-team All-Northast-10 recognition after placing ninth in the conference championships.
