McHale Leads Bentley Men During Mayor’s Cup

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Cullen McHale (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) was the top runner for the Bentley University men's cross country team during Sunday's Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park, with his 8,000-meter time of 26:04 second best among collegians in the meet that included predominately club athletes.

Overall, McHale was 45th in a field of 178 runners. Among collegians, only Merrimack's Luis Cruz got to the line quicker as he placed 36th overall in 25:41.

Next on the finish list for Bentley were junior David Cooper (Woburn/Woburn HS) and freshman Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS). Cooper was 57th overall and sixth among collegians with a time of 26:30 and Chapski's 26:44 put him 70th overall and 11th among collegians. Sophomore Rupak Mehta (Howell, N.J./Howell HS), 77th overall, posted the fastest 8K time of his career, 26:48.

 In the team standings, Bentley was third among five Northeast-10 programs and eighth of 14 overall with a score of 220. The top five were all club teams and the Falcons were just edged out by Stonehill College (214) and Merrimack (217).

Bentley will now have two weeks to prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships which will be run at Franklin Pierce on Nov. 9.
