BOSTON, Mass. – Eight new personal bests were achieved by members of the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team during the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center Saturday.

Senior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), after finishing 13th of 79 in the 60 meters with a time of 7.14 seconds, ran the 200 in 22.60, a new best by 0.11 seconds. He moved to number five on Bentley's all-time list and ninth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list while placing 87th of 231.

Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) also moved to ninth on the NE10 performance list with a 50.49 in the 400. That was a new PR by 0.21 seconds for the senior and placed him 115th in a field of 236. Also in the 400, sophomore Joe Wix (Granby, Conn./Granby HS) improved on his previous best by 0.79 seconds with his 51.62 good for 177th place.

In the 800, new PR's were posted by freshman Jack Deehan (Westwood/Westwood HS), senior Shawn Andrade (Suffield, Conn./Suffield HS) and freshman Brian Tolan (Abington/Abington HS). Deehan improved on his by 1.18 seconds with a 2:00.29, Andrade by 2.49 with a 2:00.94 and Tolan by 0.62 with a 2:01.05.

Bentley also participated in the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT's Johnson Athletic Center Saturday with highlights including second place finishes by juniors Sohan Basu (Ridgewood, N.J./ Ridgewood HS), Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) and Brian Shevlin (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade HS).

Shevlin was second of 24 in the 60 (7.12) and was also third of 22 in the 200, with his 23.40 clocking a new PR by 0.54 seconds. Catino ran the 60 hurdles in 8.90 seconds and Basu's time in the 3,000 was 9:05.66, an improvement on his previous best by more than 13 seconds.

Senior J.T. Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) had Bentley's best throw of the season in the shot put, clearing 41 feet, 1.75 inches to finish 11th in a field of 29.

Freshman Aidan Cremins (Katy, Texas/Obra D. Tompkins HS) bettered his PR in the 5,000 by more than 20 seconds while finishing fifth of 13 with a 16:25.31.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Thursday and Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
