Bentley Men Resume Indoor Schedule at Reggie Poyau Memorial

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a five-week holiday break, the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team resumed its schedule Saturday by competing in the Reggie Poyau Memorial at Brandeis University.

Junior Soham Basu (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood HS) finished first in the 5,000 meters, putting up a 17:13.80 in his first career collegiate race at that distance.

Senior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) was fourth of 49 in the 60 meters after posting a 7.20 in the finals and was also fifth of 53 in the 200 (23.33).

Sophomore Derek Pittorino (Westborough/Westborough HS) also posted a fifth for the Falcons with his coming in a field of 31 in the 800 meters (2:06.04).

Junior Anthony Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) was seventh in the 60 hurdles (8.97) while eighth-place finishes were achieved by junior Brian Shevlin (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade HS) in the 60 (7.32) and senior Shawn Andrade (Suffield, Conn./Suffield HS) in the 600 (1:28.64).

Freshman Brice Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) won his heat in the mile and placed 11th of 32 overall in 4:43.30.

As a team, Bentley was seventh of 11 with 18 points. Merrimack College took team honors with the Warriors' 158 nearly double the 83 posted by runner-up Brandeis.

Bentley's next meet is the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational next Sunday at Harvard.
