Bentley Men Post Quartet of Thirds During Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational

EASTON, Mass. – The Bentley University men's track and field team posted a quartet of third-place finishes, including two from junior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), during the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium Saturday.

Arnold was third of 19 in the 100 meters (11.34 seconds) as well as third of 13 in the long jump as he cleared 21 feet, one-half inch.

The other thirds were achieved by junior Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) in the 400 meter hurdles (55.90) and junior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) in the 5,000 (15:57.28). Gettings' performance was a season best.

Bentley's only fourth-place finish came in the 4x100 with sophomore Kevin Pellegrine (Walpole/Walpole HS), junior Shawn Andrade (Suffield, Conn./Suffield), sophomore Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) and freshman Jared Reimer (Berlin, Conn./Berlin HS) combining for a time of 44.15 seconds.

Senior Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) was fifth among 23 student-athletes in the 1500 (4:12.45) and Catino was the fifth man to cross the line in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 16.10. Right behind him in sixth was junior Declan O'Brien (Norwood/Norwood HS) in 16.30.

Also posting a sixth-place finish was senior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS), with a 9:14.30 in the 3,000.

Arnold was one of three Falcons to score in the 100 with sophomore Brian Shevlin (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade HS) sixth (11.67) and Reimer eighth (11.74).

Bentley totaled 48 points in the meet, fewest among the nine participating teams. Stonehill captured its own tournament by 39 points over Merrimack College, 144-105.

Next Friday and Saturday, Bentley will be at Southern New Hampshire for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
