Arnold, Maselli Lead Bentley During Carisella Invitational

DEDHAM, Mass. – Junior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and sophomore Peter Maselli (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) had the highest individual finishes for the Bentley University men's track and field team Saturday during the predominantly-Division I Jay Carisella Coaches' Invitational at Northeastern University's Solomon Track.

Arnold was fourth of 16 in the 200 meters (11.19 second in the finals,  11.13 prelims) as well as sixth of 18 in the 200 (22.75) and 12th of 18 in the long jump (19'8.75").

Arnold was also part of the Falcons' 4x100 relay team that finished second in 44.22 seconds. That quartet also included sophomores Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) and Kevin Pellegrine (Walpole/Walpole HS), along with freshman Jared Reimer (Berlin, Conn./Berlin HS).

Maselli and junior Andrew Shortall (Plymouth/Plymouth South HS) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the javelin. Maselli released a throw of 149 feet, 11 inches and Shortall bested his previous best by three feet with a distance of 137 feet, one inch.

Junior Tom Abraham (Lowell/Lowell HS) was seventh of 14 in the 5,000 with his time of 15:58.90 a PR by about three minutes.

Eighth-place finishes were achieved by junior JT Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) in the discus (116'0"), junior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) in the 5,000 (16:27.59) and senior Ryan Kenney (Henrietta, N.Y./Henrietta Rush-Sperry HS) in the 200 (23.27).

The team standings had Bentley fifth of six with 30 points. The University of New Hampshire took first, outscoring Northeastern 265.5-236.5.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational.
