Arnold Continues Strong Spring During San Diego Triton Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Bentley University men's outdoor track and field team competed in a pair of meets Saturday, one In California and the other in New Hampshire, with junior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) among the top performers.

Competing in the San Diego Triton Invitational, Arnold turned in the third best performance by a Northeast-10 Conference student-athlete so far this season in the long jump. That was 21 feet, nine inches, which put him 14th of 47 in the meet.

Arnold was also 27th of 69 in the 100 meters (11.16), 32nd of 62 in the 200 (22.76) and part of the Falcons' 4x400 relay that was 12th of 16 in 3:31.07. 

Also in San Diego, seniors Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) and Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS) turned in 5,000-meter times that rank in the top ten on the NE10 performance list.

Murphy's 15:24.99 moved him to fifth on the NE10 list and Hergott's 15:33.74 elevated him to ninth. Murphy, 20th of 43, missed his personal best by 0.15 seconds while Hergott established a new PR while placing 26th.

Sophomore Antonio Catino (North Reading, Mass./North Reading HS)  was 23rd of 32 in the 110 hurdles with his 15.89 12th best in the NE10 so far this spring.

During the Southern New Hampshire Relays, Bentley's highest finish came in the mile with junior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) fifth in 4:33.19.  Junior Thomas Abraham (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) just missed scoring in the event, placing ninth in 4:33.19

Junior Declan O'Brien (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) was seventh of 19 in the 110 hurdles (16.87) and sophomore Mark Stanic (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton HS) achieved a pair of PR's. He was tenth of 68 in the 200 (23.31) and 16th of 64 in the 400 (52.82).

Senior Ryan Kenney (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta Sperry HS) was two places behind Stanic in the 200 (23.47) and junior Jared Reimer (Berlin, Conn./Berlin HS) was 13th of 64 in the 100 (11.51).

In the weight events, sophomore Peter Maselli (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) was 12th of 57 in the javelin (season-best 152'0"), junior J.T. Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) was 15th of 64 in the  discus (116'7") and senior Mike Carpino (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield HS) was 15h of 59 in the shot (41'6").

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
