Arnold Leads Bentley Men During Bryant Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Competing in four different events, junior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/ Thornton Academy) led the Bentley University men's track and field team during Saturday's Bryant University Black and Gold Invitational.

Arnold scored in the 100 meters with his time of 11.44 seconds good for fourth in a field of 35. He was also 15th of 47 in the 200, posting a 23.21 and part of the Falcons' 4x100 relay team that was seventh in 45.77.

In addition, Arnold was 11th of 28 in the long jump after clearing 20 feet, 2.25 inches. That elevated him to fourth on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list.

Bentley found success in the 4x400 relay, turning in a time of 3:25.86 to finish sixth among 15 teams. Junior Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) led off and the quartet also included senior Ryan Kenney (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta Sperry HS) and sophomores Niko Jancaterino (Buzzards Bay/Falmouth HS) and Mark Stanic (Lincoln Park, N.J./ Boonton HS).

Gettings also ran the 400 hurdles in 57.98 seconds, good for seventh on the NE10 performance list and 12th of 24 in the meet.

Senior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) ran to an eighth-place finish, in a field of 27 in the 5,000, with his 15:54.65 ninth best in the NE10 so far this spring.

In the 110 hurdles, Catino moved to seventh on the NE10 performance list with his 16.15 second time putting him ninth of 27.

Bentley finished 12th among 13 teams in the meet with 12 points.

Next Saturday, the Falcons will be in Durham, N.H. for the University of New Hampshire Invitational.
