Bentley Men Compete in John Thomas Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – At least ten new personal bests were set Saturday when the Bentley University men's indoor track and field team competed in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

Among the highlights was senior Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS), who ran the 3,000 meters in 8:40.13. That was good for 55th in a field of 111 runners and elevated him to both 15th on Bentley's all-time list and fifth on this season's Northeast-10 performance list.

The top performances for the Falcons in the shorter races were 7.32 seconds in the 60 by sophomore Brian Shevlin (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade HS), 23.09 seconds by senior Ryan Kenney (Henrietta, N.Y./Henrietta Rush Sperry HS) in the 200 and 51.22 seconds in the 400 by junior Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HD). Shevlin was 37th of 65, Kenney 85th of 137 and Gettings 78th of 131.

Junior Michael Cannata (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) moved to 19th in the NE10 performance list in the mile with a 4:27.89. That was good for 100th in a field of 140.

Junior Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS), in the 5000, and sophomore Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS), in the 60 hurdles, also climbed on the NE10 performance. Edwards' 16:05.87 ranks 13th in the conference and Catino's 8.88 put him 14th.

Sophomore Michael Carpino (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) threw the shot 42 feet, 9.75 inches to place 23rd of 34.
