Arnold Impresses for Bentley at BU John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University's Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) continued his strong sophomore season by setting new personal bests in two of the three events he competed in during the John Thomas Terrier Classic Saturday at Boston University.

In a field of 42 in the long jump, Arnold was 17th with his leap of 21'1.2" bettering his previous best by an inch. He also improved on his PR in the 200 meters by 0.09 seconds with a 22.87. That was good for 12th on Bentley's all-time list and 62nd of 116 in the massive meet.

Arnold's day also included finishing 23rd of 66 in the 60 meters in 7.19 meters.

Two other sophomores, Robert Moritz (Singapore) and Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS), led Bentley in the 400 meters. Moritz was 38th of 109 in 50.28 and Gettings also finished in the top half, 51st with a 50.88.

J.T. Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS), yet another sophomore, and junior Michael Carpino (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) both exceeded 40 feet in the shot. Brine's 40'11", good for 22nd of 37, improved on his PR by more than nine inches and Carpino was 24th with a throw of 40'0.5".

Freshman Antonio Catino (North Reading/North Reading HS) was 19th of 37 in the 60 hurdles, his 8.87 improving on his previous best by .08 seconds.

In the 800, senior Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) ran a season-best 1:57.34 to place 62nd among 128 runners.

Next weekend, Bentley will be at the Reggie Lewis Center for the New England Championships.
