WALTHAM, Mass. – Recent Bentley University Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton), a 2017 CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America, and a pair of Falcon rising juniors, Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./ Smithfield HS) and Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS), have been named to the 2017 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

To qualify for USTCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor seasons.

In addition, the Bentley men's and women's track and field teams both received All-Academic team recognition from the USTFCCCA for achieving at least a 3.00 GPA during the year. The Falcon men turned in the second highest GPA nationally in Division II for the third straight year, achieving an impressive 3.44. The Bentley women also excelled, posting a 3.41.

Coach Kevin Curtin's team was one of just eight East Region institutions to have both teams earn All-Academic honors. It's the seventh straight year both the Falcon men and women were honored.

Bolick, who earned a 3.85 as a corporate finance and accounting major, closed out his collegiate career by placing eighth in the 800 meters and earning All-New England honors at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships in May. His time of 1:51.68 at the New Englands was the second fastest in program history. Indoors, he ran to third place in the 800 at the Northeast-10 Championships.

Sihvonen earned second-team All-America honors this past season after finishing ninth in the javelin at the NCAA Division II Championships. Earlier in the season, he placed third in the javelin during both the New Englands and Northeast-10's, and broke his own school record with a throw of 214 feet. The 2016 NE10 javelin champ has achieved a GPA of 3.33 while majoring in both management and liberal studies.

Mattson, whose GPA as a double major (actuarial sciences, business studies) is a sparkling 3.94, will enter her junior year as the school record holder in nine events, including the indoor marks in the 300, 400, 500, 600, long jump and triple jump. She earned All-New England honors three times during the outdoor season as well as USTFCCCA All-East recognition in the 400 and long jump.
