EASTON, Mass. – Freshman Josh Gettings (Lowell/Lowell HS) had the highest finish for the Bentley University men's outdoor track and field team during the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which concluded Sunday at Stonehill College's WB Mason Stadium.

Gettings posted a second-place finish the 400 meter hurdles with his time of 55.68 seconds good for number two on Bentley's all-time list and improving on his previous collegiate best (56.66) by nearly a full second. He finished only a quarter-of-a-second back of Southern Connecticut State's Cole Terry, who took first in 55.43.

Gettings was also part of Bentley's 4x400 relay team that placed seventh in 3:24.15. Junior Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) ran the opening leg and seniors Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and David Stoffel (Luxembourg) the final two.

Bolick and Skarin both scored in the 800 with the former fifth in a field of 25 (1:54.60) and Skarin crossing the line one-hundredth of a second later in sixth.

Led by junior Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS), Bentley found success in the throwing events. He scored twice, placing fifth in the shot put (45'11.25") and seventh in the discus (131'11"). His performance in the shot ranked fifth in program history and exceeded his previous best by just a half-inch shy of a foot.

While Kraft was fifth of 16 in the shot, freshman JT Brine (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Bluepoint HS) did the same in the discus with a distance of 134'5". That bettered his collegiate best by more than 13 feet and elevated him to fifth on Bentley's all-time list.

Junior David Hernandez (Tokyo, Japan) tied for ninth in the high jump as he posted the first six-foot jump of his career, bettering his previous best by three-quarters of an inch. He was also tenth in the discus following a throw of 119'9".

Bentley also received a tenth-place finish from junior Seamus Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) with a 15:39.84 in the 5,000.

As a team, Bentley finished eighth of 11 with 43 points, an improvement of 10 over last year's total and the Falcons' most since 2010.

This coming weekend, the Falcons will be out in western Massachusetts for the New England Championships at Williams College.
