Bentley Tunes Up for Northeast-10 Championships with Solid Showing at BU
BOSTON, Mass. – The Bentley University men's indoor track and field team, in its final competition before next Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference Championships, posted a number of quality performances during the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at Boston University Friday night and Saturday.
One of the best came in the only men's competition on Friday, the distance medley relay. Seniors Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS), David Stoffel (Luxembourg) and Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./ Ramsey HS) combined with junior Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) for a time of 10:15.03, seventh best in program history. In the NE10 this season, it ranks as the third best.
Bolick also ran the mile in 4:18.28 to finish in the top third, 89th of 319. Also in the mile, Ben Edwards (Morristown, N.J./Morristown HS) posted a new personal best of 4:22.63, an improvement of 0.92 seconds. It was the third best by an NE10 freshman this season.
Skarin came within two-tenths of his PR in the 500 meters with a time of 1:06.70 to finish 33rd among 60 competitors.
In the 3,000, PR's came from Haas and junior Graham Chapski (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich HS). Haas improved on his by 2.81 seconds with an 8:44.11 and Chapski's 8:51.20 was an improvement of 6.10 seconds.
Junior David Hernandez (Tokyo, Japan) improved on his best in the high jump by a quarter-of-an-inch, clearing six feet, three-quarter inches.
The Northeast-10's will be held next Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
