3 Falcon Runners Earn Academic All-District Recognition from CoSIDA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three Bentley University student-athletes were chosen for the 2016 NCAA Division II District 1 Academic All-District™ Men's Track and Field and Cross Country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Earning the recognition were senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) and a pair of juniors, Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and Erik Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS).

All three will appear on the national ballot for the selection of the CoSIDA NCAA Division II All-America® team, which will be announced next month. District 1 includes student-athletes competing in the Northeast-10 Conference, the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The trio has distinguished themselves in the classroom as well as on the track during their Bentley careers. Nee, who recently graduated Magna Cum Laude, earned a 3.67 grade point average as a finance major. Alatalo has achieved a 3.82 while majoring in both accountancy and liberal studies and Bolick owns a sparkling 3.89 as a corporate finance and accounting major.

Nee earned All-East honors in the 800 meters from the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association during a year that saw him win the event at the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships (1:54.79) and finish third in the 800 at the NE-10's outdoors. A member of the 2016 Academic All-Northeast-10 indoor track team, Nee owns the indoor school record in the 600 (1:22.44) and owns a share of the school record in the indoor 4x800 relay (7:40.52).

Alatalo garnered Academic All-Northeast-10 honors for both cross country and indoor track this season with the outdoor team still to be announced. His accomplishments this year have included third place in the 5,000 at the indoor Northeast-10 Championships (15:09.55), 15th in the 5K at the indoor New Englands (15:15.63), 32nd in the NE-10 Cross Country Championships (26:20.5) and eighth in the 10,000 at the NE-10 Outdoor Championships (32:21.81).

Bolick, whose father Paul was a two-time Academic All-America for Bentley three decades ago, was the runner-up in the 1,000 at the indoor NE-10 championships (2:30.98). Along with Nee, he was part of the Falcons' school record-setting 4x800 relay at the indoor New Englands and was fourth in the same event during the outdoor conference championships. Bolick, who spent the fall semester studying in Australia, was also ninth in the 1,000 at the indoor New Englands (2:29.11).

The Division II and III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America teams program.
