Bentley Provisionally Qualifies for NCAAs in Distance Medley Relay

                BOSTON, Mass. – Four members of the Bentley University men's track and field team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships in the distance medley relay during his weekend's David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

                Senior Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS) combined with graduate student Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS), sophomore Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./ Sunapee HS) and junior Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) for a time of 10:04.77 in the only men's event held on Friday. That was good for third on Bentley's all-time list, fourth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list and 13th of 21 in the meet.

Nee ran the first 1,200 in 3:03.2, Maffiolini turned in a 49.4 400 split, Skarin ran the next 800 in 1:55.2 and Hass closed with a 4:16.7 1,600.

On Saturday, Nee and Skarin ran the 500 in 1:06.09 and 1:06.51, respectively, with those times ranking eighth and ninth on Bentley's all-time lists. Nee, who was 17th of 59 in the meet, moved to tenth on the NE-10 list while Skarin, 23rd overall, had the conference's 14th best 500 of the season.

Maffiolini and Haas also competed on Saturday. Maffiolini was 92nd of 195 in the 400 with his 50.49 a personal best by .05 seconds. Haas had the best time of the fifth Falcons who ran the mile, placing 121st of 320 with a 4:20.05.

Sophomore Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) shattered his PR in the 3,000 with his 8:33.10 improving on his previous best by 19 seconds. It was good for fourth on the NE-10 performance list, tenth on Bentley's all-time list and 68th of 159 runners overall in the meet.

In the 1,000, junior Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) finished in 2:31.74, a PR by 0.42 seconds, to place 40th in a field of 84. On the season's NE-10 list, that put him at number nine.

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
