Brennan & Sihvoven Selected for USTFCCCA All-East Region Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Two Bentley University track and field athletes, junior Sarah Brennan (Quincy/Notre Dame Acad.) and freshman Holt Sihvoven (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS), have been selected for Division II All-East Region honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Brennan was recognized in the 5000 meters and Sihvonen was cited for his performance in the javelin.

Brennan, number two in the East Region in the 5,000 meters, placed second at that distance during the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. She achieved a pair of personal bests this spring with her 17:58.57 in the 5,000 fourth best in program history and her 10:27.04 fifth best ever by a Falcon.

Sihvonen had an outstanding spring throwing the javelin for the Falcons, topping 190 feet twice with his 191'6" during the New England Championships third best in Bentley history and good for fourth on the East Region performance list. He finished first in three meets, earned second-team All-Northeast-10 honors with a second in the conference championships and became an All-New England honoree with his fourth in this past weekend's New Englands.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction.

Three other Falcons finished the outdoor season just outside of the top five. Senior Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn./Southington HS) was sixth in the 400 meters (49.40), freshman Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) was eighth in the shot out (144'5") and junior Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) was eighth in the steeplechase (school record 11:30.23).
