Sihvonen Earns All-New England Honors with 4th-Place Finish

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial HS) earned All-New England honors by virtue of placing fourth in the javelin at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships Friday afternoon at MIT's Henry Steinbrenner Track.

Sihvonen, on his first throw of the day, uncorked a throw of 191'6" to better his existing personal best by six inches. It was the sixth best distance recorded by a Division II freshman nationwide this season.

In the 10,000 meters, senior Mac Segura-Cook (Northwood, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood Acad.) closed out his career by establishing a new PR. His time of 32:23.89 bettered his previous best by 1:02.79 and was good for 15th among 29 competitors.

Also in the 10,000, freshman Ryan Cadorette (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) was 16th in 32:43.46 and sophomore Eric Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) was 18th in 33:07.26. Cadorette's time improved on his PR by more than 95 seconds.

Senior Steve Maffiolini (Southington, Conn.) also competed for Bentley on Friday, finishing 18th in the 400 (50.01) and 27th in the 200 (22.76) with both times just shy of his personal bests. His 400 time ranked second among Division II student-athletes.

The New England championships conclude on Saturday with eight Falcons scheduled to compete.
